We Fell Down

I do apologize for the lack of emails. I was out of town.

What a glorious month has past us. Truly we should reflect on how we spent it, but remember, if we messed up then we should not despair. Allah gives us inumerous oppurtunities to turn to Him...

However, we are young, we are stupid, we think we are never going to die, and sometimes we do some of the silliest things.

Think about it, even after the blessed month of Ramadhaan has past us, we went and we called up our illicit beloveds: "Ay bhethi, wakkyn? You know Shaytaan is out and I'm missing you span!''
Or we quietly opened the pornographic sites on the internet, or we suddenly re-tune our radios to 5fm or ECR. But no matter what, none of us will ever say what we are doing is right. We admit that we are wrong!

A great Wali of Allah Ta'Ala who was an accomplished poet gave some advice in this regard. He wrote a poem asking how does one reach their destination? This destination of Allah Ta'Ala? What was the method used or the way? He says that how did they do it? His advice is firstly that they fell down.
How many times a person falls down? How many times a person day or night falls down(spiritually). Every gunnah(sin) that we commit is like we stumbled and fell down. Every Hukum of Allah that we left out, we missed our fajr salaah: we fell down. Whatever it is, we fell down. Even casting lustful glances. We spoke a lie, spoke ill of someone, we felt pride in the heart. These are various ways we fall down spiritually.

But now after falling down, what happened? After we fell down, we didn't stay down, WE GOT UP. Till we fell again, we got up again and carried on walking. So in this way a person will fall many times, but as long as we wake up and carry on walking(we don't stay down), then in shaa Allah it is a sign that one day we will reach our destination.

So my beloved friends, do not despair if you are currently lying in the gutter of sin. We shouldn't listen to Shaitaan who tells us that we have committed too many sins. Did Allah put us in this world to think of sin, or to think of Him? Get up, get out the gutter, wash the dirt of ourselves, apply itthar and strive forward with the firm intention of never falling down in the gutter again.

For those of us who are involved in those relationships, or hooked on those series/movies...don't think about tomorrow. Don't think about how will I get married if I don't talk to him or her. Remember Allah created that jallabee of a girl, thus he can give you better. Forget about the fact that we might be bored without these sins. Just think about the moment now, get up out of the gutter, make wudhu, beg Allah for help and move forward.

Hadeeth Newsflash

Reported by Jundub bin `Abdullah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Once someone said: `By Allah! Allah will not forgive such and such (a person).' Thereupon Allah, the Exalted and the Glorious, said: `Who is he who takes an oath in My Name that I will not grant pardon to so-and-so? I have granted pardon to so-and-so and rendered your good deeds fruitless.''' [Muslim]
